Dimples

Yup, its official, blake has my dimples! He has been smiling since he was born, but he started smiling at people when they played with him a few weeks ago. Thats when we really started to notice them. So far the one on the right is deeper and the one on the left is taking a little longer to form, but definitely there. He is so cute and at such a fun age.  He loves when you play with him and talk to him. It makes him so excited that he kicks his feet and moves his arms with a huge smile on his face. I think he is getting ready to laugh soon.  He is making cute little noises especially when he is very content and happy. He also loves when I sing songs to him. It calms him down and he just stares at me. We mostly sing primary songs and he seems to like those :)

swimming

It has been very hot since we have been here in Arizona so we have taken Blake swimming a few times. It makes him a little bit nervous, but he doesn't like bath time very much either. The pool water is so warm that after we gets in he relaxes and just hangs out.

Photos

Tanners cousin, Ashley Madson, is a photographer from Arizona and she was in Utah the weekend after blake was born. She was so nice to take time out of her vacation and take Blake's new born pic's. We were so excited and you can see why, she is so good at what she does! These were taken on July 4th, 2009 just 8 days after blake was born.

2 months

Blake had his 2-month appointment yesterday and now weighs 9lbs 8oz and is 23 ¼ inches long. This puts him in the 10% for weight and the 75% for height. When we first got to Arizona we thought he might be sick because his eyes kept watering and turning red, and even though he wasn't really fussy we took his temperature just to be sure, obviously he didn't mind and his temperature was fine. By the time we took him to the doctor he was all better and has been great ever since. He is starting to be a lot more awake and aware, and is smiling all the time. Blake is such a content and mellow baby, and so much fun!  He is starting to hold his head up really well and look around. At night when he is eating I leave the closet light on so we can see, and no matter what way I face him he turns his head and stares at the light. It really cute and good to know that he will always follow the lightJ

Busy Weekend

This weekend Tanner and I Graduated and moved to Arizona. It was such a great experience to finally Graduate and walk with Tanner. During commencement my parent watched Blake and then Tanners family watched him during convocation when we walked across the stage to get our diplomas. He was such a good baby during both events and hardly made a sound.

I always forget how hard it is to move. We have been slowly packing for the past few weekends, but the hardest part is the very end when there is a bunch of random stuff and its hard to keep organized. We waited until the last second to get a moving truck and had to go all the way to bountiful to get it, but eventually we were able to get everything packed and cleaned the apartment with lots of help from family. Moving is such a hard job and can wear anyone out…just ask little Blake.

Blake

When blake was born he had some trouble with his liver breaking down glycogen and had to spend his first 7 days in the NICU. Since then he has come home and grown so much during the past 6 weeks. Here he was only one day old and so little next to tanner's hand.
By day three he had to have a feeding tube. He is such mellow and happy tempered baby that it didn't even seem to phase him. His Grandma Burby was holding him while i was talking to him and he gave us a cute little smile :)

By the 8th day he was all better and ready to come home! He was so little in the big car seat.

At his two week appointment the Doctor said he needed to do at least ten minutes of belly time every day. Unfortunately, Blake doesn't like belly time so tanner has to help him get through it sometimes.
Here Tanner and I are getting him ready for bed time. So far he sleeps good during the night, but every once and a while he has a night when he likes to stay up till 3am ... those are not our finest moments :) Since we brought him home he has been making it a habit to sleep 6 hours at a time during the night, and on good nights he will do it two times in a row!

I love to take Blakes picture, but i think he's getting sick of it :) Ooops! i left the flash on!

...and here he is now! 6 weeks old and he loves his swing.

where we are now...

I thought I would start off our very first blog post with a little bit about each of us. Tanner and I have been married for 16 months and we just had a beautiful baby boy named Blake Tanner Barratt. He was born June 26, 2009 weighing 6lbs 7oz and 19 1/2 inches long.  He just hit his 6 week mark today and is healthy, happy, and so much fun! Tanner is in the process of getting into dental school. He took the DAT and applied and is now waiting to hear back. We are both graduating from BYU on August 14. Tanner is getting a Bachelors in Biology and Im getting a Bachelors in Sociology. Once we are graduated we are moving to Arizona to await where we will be spending the next 4 years of our life!
